The brief
Festive videos are a staple of Malaysian brand storytelling: cinematic, emotional and visually driven. Yet for the visually impaired they remain out of reach. For AmBank's first-ever Deepavali campaign, the challenge was clear: how do we create a story that can be fully experienced by an audience that cannot see?
The experience
Light of Hope follows Arun and Raju, a father and son navigating grief after an accident leaves Raju blind. With the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB), Raju regains his confidence and plans a surprise Deepavali celebration for his father. A fully audio descriptive version, narrated to describe every visual cue, setting and emotion, launched on 27 October 2024 alongside the cinematic cut. MAB shaped the scripting, narration and casting, a real talent from the community took a lead role, and members experienced the film together at a dedicated screening.
The result
3.16 million views and 354,715 engagements across YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, at RM0.01 per view on YouTube. The visually impaired community welcomed being included in a festive campaign in a way that felt purposeful and respectful, and the film was shared organically through accessibility circles, setting a new benchmark for inclusive marketing in Malaysia.
